Jan Kalicki is Counselor for International Strategy, Chevron Corporation, and Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He served previously as Counselor to the US Department of Commerce and White House Ombudsman for Energy and Commercial Cooperation with the New Independent States, and has extensive background in government, finance and the academic worlds. He is the editor or author of books and articles on the Gulf region and the Middle East, Russia and Eurasia, China, and global energy security.

Suzana Sawyer
Associate Professor of Anthropology, University of California, Davis
Suzana Sawyer is the author of Crude Chronicles: Indigenous Politics, Multinational Oil, and Neoliberalism in Ecuador (2004). Her research examines struggles over resources in the Ecuadorian Amazon, focusing specifically on conflicts over land and petroleum development among forest peoples, the state, and multinational oil companies. She is currently studying the on-going transnational lawsuit in Ecuador against the Chevron Corporation for industrial negligence and environmental contamination.
